The implemention of national scientific research project

Institute for Environment and Resources has been assigned by the Ministry of Science and Technology to carry out the National Research Project, code KC08 / 16-20

The project entitled "STUDY ON DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A NUMBER OF MODELS FOR WASTE REDUCTION AND TREATMENT, ACCORDING TO SPECIAL NATURAL AGRICULTURAL CONDITIONS IN THE MEKONG DELTA", code KC08.19 / 16-20

This project ischaired by MSc. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao. Moreover, MSc. Le Quoc Vi is the science secretary and Prof.Dr. Le Thanh Hai is the scientific advisor.

The research objective is to assess the current status of environmental issues related to production and livelihoods of rural people in 3 ecological zones, especially fresh, saline areas, and the sites affected by alum (including intermediary areas, transitional areas); from which to propose, develop and implement demonstrations of some models of waste minimization and treatment, basing on the closure flows of the raw materials, waste and energy that are suitable for the natural conditions associated with the freshwarter, salty and alkaline ecosystems in the rural areas of the Mekong delta, especially in difficult areas (affected by saline intrusion and alum).

The specific objectives are as follows: (1) Evaluate the status of waste generation and the application of waste minimization and disposal models in the saline, fresh and salt water ecosystems in rural areas in Mekong Delta. (2) A set of criteria and detailed contents of the integrated model selection indicators shall be proposed on the basis of the closure flows of the material, waste and energy associated with the saline, fresh and alumine ecosystems in the Mekong Delta. (3) Successful implementation 03 models of household scale, 03 models of residential clusters to prevent integrated pollution reduction on the basis of closure flows of raw materials, wastes and energy from agricultural and livelihoods activites in 3 different typical locations in rural areas.

Project duration is 30 months from June 2018 to November 2020
